Festivals in Santiago

The lovely city of Santiago, surrounded by the Andes Mountains, is the capital of Chile and also its largest city. An artsy, bustling city with a vibrant nightlife, wonderful shopping and beautiful architecture, it is also the site of many of the most beloved festivals. In January, check out the Santiago Loveparade with its procession of booming stereos. In June, the Feast Day of The Virgin Del Carmen is celebrated. Columbus Day is celebrated every year on October 12 not only in commemoration of Columbus' arrival in the New World, but in celebration of the diverse cultures that have converged to form the nation's wonderful blending of ethnicities. In early November, the Ferio de Libro, or festival of books is held. In addition, there are a number of agricultural and international festivals throughout the year.

Festivals in other parts of Chile

The Feast Day of San Sebastian in Yubel takes place in January. It is a lively celebration which typically attracts over 300,000 faithful followers each year. In June, the Fiesta de San Pedro de Atacama is held in the quiet, peaceful desert town of the same name. St. Peter's and Paul's Feast Day is celebrated in July in the beautiful seaside town of Valparaiso and also in July, The Festival of the Virgin of the Song is celebrated in La Tirana. The Maule Valley Wine Region hosts frequent festivals attracting wine lovers from all over the world.
