Fixion-Sars, the Santiago horror film festival, finished its fourth year at the end of October, 2011. Each year, a call for submissions is made in spring or early summer. Submissions vary from old style black and white films to ultra-modern torture flicks. It accepts science fiction, horror, fantasy, the fantastic and the bizarre in short-length films, medium-length films and full-length films format. Films may have a large, full-blown budget, or no budget at all. Because of its open format, it is a very popular festival at which many aspiring filmmakers have the opportunity to display their talents. International submission are encouraged. Past years have featured films from the USA, Spain, Italy, Austria, England, Philippines, Cuba, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and other nations. Fixion-Sars is an unparalleled opportunity with interests in fantasy, horror and the grotesque, genres that are notoriously difficult to receive funding for.
